Gary Puckett

Gary Puckett is a local boy, growing up in Yakima, Washington, adjacent to the city of Union Gap, and Twin Falls, Idaho, where he started playing in bands while in high school. He began his most famous band in 1967 in San Diego, taking their moniker from their neighboring town, signed with Columbia, and quickly became a Billboard Idol. Gary Puckett and the Union Gap had some very impressive hits. The first was Woman, Woman, reaching # 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 followed by # 2 Young Girl, # 2 Lady Willpower, # 7 Over You, # 15 Don't Give in to Him, and # 9 This Girl Is a Woman Now. "Young Girl" reached # 1 on the UK Singles Chart. Controversial at the time, it tells the tale of a man trying to resist seduction by an underage girl who has "all the charms of a woman". Dramatically delivered in Puckett's trademark rich tenor and with a memorable strings and brass arrangement, the song was an instant classic and is still much played on radio today.

Peggy March

Although Peggy began performing professionally at the age of 5, she was discovered at the age of 13, only 4 feet, 10 inches at the time, and her birthday was in March -- hence the name Little Peggy March! In 1963, Peggy was 14 and the youngest female artist with a No. 1 smash hit record, I Will Follow Him. This song has not only been tested by time, but she has sang it in at least six different languages and had a No. 1 hit worldwide with it! This year will be Peggy's return to Sandpoint after a very long time, and you can be sure that she will rock the house.

The 23rd Annual Lost in the 50s is Sandpoint's Coolest Rock 'n' Roll Party, and we have not lost one ounce of the dedication or the love of music and cars. So once again, it's that time of year to cruise to Sandpoint, where cars and original guest artists and their music collide into Lost in the '50s Weekend.
